Immigrate to Canada Without a Job Offer Nova Scotia PNP

Many people decide to immigrate to Canada for different reasons. It is a great place to live, but many people are unsure of how to immigrate there if they do not have a job offer outright. While immigrating with a job offer may be the most straightforward way to move to the country, it is not the only path to do so. There are other options. It may just take a little research and a little extra time.

The province of Nova Scotia is a great place to research if you have not secured a job offer. The population of the province has been slightly lower over the years because of an aging population and low birth rate. The province wants individuals to come to the country and have made it possible even if they do not have a job offer. Do not let a decreasing population keep you from researching the province. The province of Nova Scotia is beautiful and has an amazing standard of living. There are plenty of employment opportunities as well.

So, if I do not have a job offer, how do I immigrate to Nova Scotia?

The Express Entry Program is commonly used, and you do not need a job offer, but you have a much better chance if you do. That system is based on points. You earn points based on age, education, and language proficiency. You also gain points if you have an official job offer. The higher the points, the better chance you have at being selected for permanent residency.

The Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program is one way you can attempt immigration to Canada without having secured a job.

The PNP does use similar criteria to Express Entry, but it does have the power to nominate candidates from its own pool of applicants. Nova Scotia PNP chooses applicants based on their age, education, and language proficiency. They also include a category for employment offers if you have one. The program does not require it for applications. Those with employment offers do have a better chance of being offered permanent residency, but it is not required. If you can prove you are a skilled worker and can fill a gap in employment, your application can make its way through to residence nominations.

There are several different paths included in the Nova Scotia PNP application process:

  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
  • Skilled Worker Stream
  • Nova Scotia Experience Express Entry Program
  • Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry Program

All of these paths require a job offer except for Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry. If you do not have a job offer, but you do have legitimate experience in an occupation, you can apply through this path of PNP.

For this, all you need is work experience relevant to the occupation and proof that you have the finances to move and settle within the province. There will be periods when this path is open for applications and when it will be closed. This all depends on the demand and number of applicants in the immigration process. Not all occupations may be included in this process and the occupations included may change over time depending on work demand and employment opportunities. If there has been a large influx of immigrants from one occupation, they may close the application for that occupation and then open it for jobs that are higher in demand.

If you are looking to apply through the Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry, there are a few different criteria that affect your eligibility:

  • You need to have experience in the occupation you are including in the application. Your experience must be at least one full year. The occupation needs to be an option on the application.
  • You need a profile that is registered at Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada Express Entry Program.
  • You need 67 points in the Express Entry Score Grid. There are 100 available points.
  • You need the equivalent of Canadian high school completed.
  • You need to be able to prove you are proficient in English or French at the Canadian Language Benchmark 7.
  • You need to have financials covered and enough resources to comfortably settle within the country.

If your completed application is selected from the pool of candidates in the Nova Scotia PNP, the program will nominate you into the larger pool of Nova Scotia and Canadian Immigration Candidates. Your nomination does not guarantee selection but is at that point included in the pool of candidates that are being selected for permanent residency in the country.
