PEI holds second biggest PNP draw of the year

Prince Edward Island holds second biggest PNP draw of the year

The total number of invitations issued this year by Prince Edward Island is now 1,541.

October 21, 2021 Prince Edward Island held another immigration draw and invited 204 immigration applicants to apply for Prince Edward Island provincial nomination.

195 of the 1,541 invitations went to Express Entry and Labor Impact candidates. The other nine invitations went to Business Impact candidates who held at least 72 points in the PEI immigration system.

This is the tenth Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw this year, bringing the total number of invitations issued so far to 1,541. PNPs allow Canada’s provinces to select immigration applicants who meet their labor market needs. The next Prince Edward Island PNP draw is expected for November 18, 2021.

PEI PNP Express Entry

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program is an Express Entry Category, classed as an enhanced Provincial Nominee Program, linked with the federal Express Entry program. In order to be in the running for this stream, applicants are required to have a profile in the Express Entry system.

Express Entry handles the applications for three immigration programs:

Eligible candidates are awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on

  • age
  • work experience
  • education
  • language proficiency in English or French

Express Entry candidates who receive a PEI PNP nomination are awarded an additional 600 points toward their CRS score and de facto guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draws. To be considered for a PEI provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates need to create an Expression of Interest with the Prince Edward Island PNP. Expression of Interest profiles are awarded points based on the province’s points matrix. The highest scoring candidates are then invited by Prince Edward Island to apply through monthly draws.

PEI Labor Impact Stream

The Labor Impact Category is for applicants with a job offer in Prince Edward Island. Applicants in this category must also submit an Expression of Interest in order to be considered for a provincial nomination through the PEI Labor Impact Category.

PEI Business Impact Stream

Business Impact Category candidates need to meet the minimum PEI provincial score requirement. This score is different in every draw.
